cBI Focus Planner is a planning and writeback extension for Microsoft Power BI that enhances existing reports with interactive planning directly in the frontend. As an integrated custom visual, Planner enables the capture, editing, and storage of planning data within the existing semantic Power BI data model - without switching systems or requiring additional planning tools.
Planning, budgeting, and forecasting are performed directly on top of the existing data model. Changes are written back in real time to a connected SQL database via a writeback function and are immediately available for reporting and analysis. Flexible allocation and aggregation logic supports top-down and bottom-up planning, as well as the structured distribution of values across complex hierarchies.
The writeback service of cBI Focus Planner is designed to be architecture-agnostic. In addition to cloud-based deployment, it can also be operated in on-premises environments as of the current release. In this case, provisioning is handled through individual installation and configuration, for example as a microservice within a containerized architecture (Docker). This makes cBI Focus Planner suitable for organizations with specific infrastructural or regulatory requirements.
cBI Focus Planner integrates seamlessly into existing Power BI environments and does not require an additional frontend. In combination with cBI Focus Vision, it provides an end-to-end solution for analytics, reporting, and integrated planning within the cBI Focus product suite.
