# User roles in cBI Focus Planner

In the cBI Focus Planner, a distinction is made between functional user roles and technical system users. At the functional level, there are the roles of **Editor**and **Planner**, each fulfilling different tasks and access rights within the report. At the technical level, the **READ user** and the **WRITE user** handle communication with the underlying SQL database (see [here](https://cbi-focus.com/docs/system-requirements/#5-toc-title)). This interaction forms the basis for controlled, traceable, and role-based access in the planning process.

**Editor**

Editors are responsible for the content of the cBI Focus Planner report. They **oversee**the **content and structural configuration**of the visuals. Their tasks include:

- Creating and managing the Power BI report
- Granting or restricting access to specific planning areas for Planner users
- Coordinating the write-back processes in the context of report maintenance

**Planner**

Planner users operate within a framework configured by the Editor. They use the report to **input and adjust planning values.** Access is limited to the data areas for which they are authorized.
